Baptists' earthquake recovery partnership

 

As part of its ongoing earthquake response efforts in Haiti, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has signed a memorandum of understanding—representing an official partnership—with the Convention Baptiste d’Haiti.

Emmanuel Pierre, general secretary of the Convention Baptiste d’Haiti, and CBF Executive Coordinator Daniel Vestal, signed a memorandum of understanding representing an official three-year partnership between the Convention and the Fellowship. Gedeon Eugene, standing, is the Haitian group’s executive director and was also present for the signing.

Awaiting armageddon - The attack on Israel

 

I do not know what it is about Islam and liberalism that causes both to turn logic and truth upside down, but we have been witnessing it in different ways recently. 

First there was the “humanitarian” flotilla running the Israeli blockade of Gaza and then there was the appalling anti-Semitism of Helen Thomas, formerly of the front row in the White House press room.

Iran's apostasy charge dropped

 

Apostasy charges have been dropped against two Iranian converts to Christianity who spent more than 250 days in jail for their faith. The two women were permitted to leave Iran on Saturday, May 22, according to Elam Ministries, a U.K.-based organization working to strengthen the Iranian church.

You may have heard about Mike and Missy Wilson on the news this past January. Major networks carried ongoing footage of their harrowing experience as they tried to get their adopted daughter, Tia, out of Haiti after the earthquake struck. Emotions also ran high as viewers watched a heartbroken Naika, Tia’s best friend, clutch Mike’s shirt as he embarked on his way back to the United States, unable to take her with him at the time. Missionaries from global South to North face hurdles

While Christianity’s center of gravity has shifted southward in the past century from Europe and North America, missionaries from the global South are still not welcome as full partners in global evangelism, an African missionary to Europe told a recent international gathering of Christians.
Fidon Mwombeki, general secretary of United Evangelical Mission, talked about challenges faced by South-to-North missionaries at Edinburgh 2010, the centenary celebration of a historic World Missionary Conference held in the city in 1910.

Ireland Judges weigh Union abortion ruling

Ireland’s constitution prohibits abortion. Three women who wanted abortions are challenging it. Roger Kiska of the Alliance Defense Fund was there on behalf of the Family Research Council to defend legal protections for pre-born children in a case that the ADF believes is pivotal for the European continent.
