10th Annual Larry Calufetti Legacy Golf Classic Set for September 26

The Gold Coast Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has announced that former NFL player and NCAA Auburn National Champion, Michael Blanc, will headline the 10th Annual FCA Celebrity Golf Classic, September 26, 2016, at Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale.

“This year’s newly named FCA event will honor the former FCA Broward Board Chairman, Larry Calufetti, who started this inaugural fundraising golf classic nine years ago. Larry “Moose” Calufetti was the founder and CEO of Sunshine Cleaning Systems, Inc., a family man, and former athlete and coach, but most importantly he was a man of God. Larry dedicated his life to serving God in all that he did. Coupling his love for God and for athletics, Larry had a deep passion for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where he served as the Broward Board Chairman the past nine years,” stated Carl Foster, event co-founder and director.

Registration for the event and a continental breakfast will begin Monday, September 26 at 8 a.m., followed by a Dixon Golf putting contest. A shotgun start for the celebrity golf classic will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. with longest drive, closest to pin contests and a hole in one chance to win a new car. An awards lunch buffet and a celebration of Larry Calufetti’s heart for the FCA will conclude the day.

Michael Blanc, FCA Broward director, said, “A limited amount of golf foursomes are available partnered with South Florida celebrity players, coaches and entertainers. All proceeds will benefit the FCA mission to impact the world for Jesus Christ by empowering athletes and coaches at high schools, on campuses, camp scholarships and FCA resources for huddle groups serving Broward County.”

The vision

The vision of FCA is to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

Their mission is to present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

They accomplish this through the Four C’s of Ministry:

Coach

The Coaches Ministry focuses on ministering to the heart of the coach first and then through the coach by engaging them with the Four C’s of Ministry. The types of Coaches Ministry are Coaches Huddles, Coaches Conventions, Training Clinics and Coaches Retreats.

Coaches are the heart of FCA. Their vision is to see coaches transformed who then by their coaching bring transformation to the people of sports. They desire to see biblical coaches who are Christians who happen to coach, rather than just coaches who happen to be Christians. When coaches become followers of Jesus Christ, their character, their relationships and their approach to coaching will be authentic.

Campus

The Campus Ministry is a certified ministry that is initiated and led by student-athletes, sponsored by coaches, supported by staff, established on junior high, high school or college campuses and meets on a regular basis.

The types of Campus Ministry are Club Huddle, Team Huddle, Chaplain Huddle and Coaches Huddle.

The school campus can be one of the most strategic mission fields with many youth passing through this portal. FCA focuses on equipping, enabling, empowering and encouraging student-athletes, coaches and adult leaders to impact and influence their campus for Christ.

Camp

An FCA Camp is a certified ministry event that uses the annual theme and scripture for athletes and coaches to develop athletic skills, create influential relationships and encounter Jesus Christ.

The types of Camps are Sports, Leadership, Coaches, Power, Team, Partnership and International. Camps are a time of “inspiration and perspiration.”

FCA provides athletes and coaches the opportunity to reach their God-given potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training in a camp environment. They create an athletic environment that produces spiritual transformation in the lives of coaches and athletes in a camp setting.

Community

The Community Ministry is the off-campus opportunities to reach coaches and athletes through the club and recreation sport environment.

The types of Community Ministry are Team Huddle, Chaplain Huddle, Coaches Huddle, Club Huddle and FCA Sport Teams. With the majority of athletes playing sports in the community (non-campus programs), FCA is ministering to the club, recreational and youth sports teams with the goal of establishing on-going ministry for coaches and athletes to compete for Jesus Christ with character, passion and excellence
