For over 18 years it’s been our commitment to bring you positive stories of good news in South Florida. Now, we’d like to take it one step further by creating a platform where we can do some good together.
The Good News, along with our faithful readers, is dedicated to raising money to help those in need and lighten their burden based on biblical principles. “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God” (Hebrews 13:16).
To accomplish this, we’ve set up a Good News Media Group Foundation “Fund” (GNMGF), totally administered and hosted by the National Christian Foundation (NCF).
We invite you to be a vital part of this good work by contributing a minimum of $5 per month or $60 per year to this giving fund. The Good News will list each continuing donor by personal name or company name each month.
Your donation of $5 or more per month, makes you a member of the Foundation “Fund,” which will be acknowledged in print. You will also receive an IRS donation receipt from the NCF for tax purposes. All donations go directly into the GNMGF trust account at the National Christian Foundation (NCF), where they can only be utilized for charitable grants as determined by a seven-person charitable donor advisory board and administered by NCF. The Good News will have no access to the funds sent to this secure account except to donate, and NCF will not take any handling or administrative fees.
Grant awards will be determined by a Charitable Advisory Board of at least seven people who agree to serve. The Good News Media Group Foundation will choose these board members at random from our faithful readers who have donated $5 per month or more to the fund. Advisory Board members shall not be current Good News Media Group, LLC employees or family members.
The Board will meet every two months to review applicants that fill out our online application request form for help. And all applications will be vetted for final board review by an independent third party vetting group, Helping Hands, contracted with NCF.
All grant requests will be considered from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $2,500. These grant requests will be awarded based on need, not want. The application review process will begin in September 2017.
The Board will not negotiate grant request amounts; the grant amount requested for consideration will either be approved or denied. Vetted and approved applicants may be asked to attend a charitable advisory board meeting, but it will not be a prerequisite for funding.
Individual donor names will be listed each month, beginning in July and then forever so long as the donors stay current with their minimum annual contribution. The random board will be selected to serve for one year from September 2017 until August 2018 when seven new members will be selected to serve the following year.
All Charitable Advisory Board members who accept an invitation to serve will have their names and pictures in the monthly page.
